German Sustainability Award 2016 Fliegl Trailers' resource efficiency honoured
The German Sustainability Award was presented for the ninth time in Düsseldorf on Friday night. 1200 guests attended the gala where "outstanding efforts to overcome the ecological and social challenges of the future" were recognised. The highlight from Fliegl Trailer's perspective was the receipt of the Special Prize for Resource Efficiency, given in recognition of the "holistic approach to resource efficiency" practised by the medium-sized commercial vehicle manufacturer. In accepting the German Sustainability Award, managing director Helmut Fliegl proclaimed: "We are committed to ensuring that goods are transported with minimal emissions, fuel consumption and waste. None of this would be possible without my colleagues".
The German Sustainability Award is the national prize for outstanding commitment to sustainability in the areas of business, community and research. With over 800 applicants, the award is the largest of its kind in Europe. The award is presented by the German Sustainability Award Foundation (Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V.) in conjunction with the federal government, local authority organisations, trade associations, civil society organisations and research institutes. "The prize winners for 2016 are significant driving forces on the road to a green economy", states the Foundation.
Sustainability, resource conservation and ecological responsibility are entrenched in the corporate philosophy of Fliegl Trailer. "We are proud and honoured to receive the German Sustainability Award. We regard it as recognition and affirmation, and as an important incentive to pursue our path to a sustainable future", states Helmut Fliegl. "If we can inspire other companies within our industry to rethink their traditional ways, then we are happy to serve as a model of sustainability".
